Title: the jacket
Fandom: Yakuza
Rating: G
Length: 375
Pairing: Baba Shigeki/Saejima Taiga
Summary: Saejima returns after a week apart. Baba just happens to be wearing his jacket.
Notes: Extremely indulgent post-game established relationship fluff.
Baba is retrieving a beer from the fridge when he hears the front door unlocking. He reflexively tenses even though he knows only two people have a key to this place, Saejima and the landlord they rent from, but relaxes when Saejima’s familiar quiet but weighted steps follow, grabbing a second beer with his left hand. He has just closed the fridge when he feels Saejima’s large hand gently pat his shoulder.
“Baba-chan,” says the low, gruff voice Baba has loved for a while with gentleness. It makes Baba’s heart melt and he’s smiling well before he turns around to greet the older and larger man more properly.
Baba offers one of the cold beers but frowns when Saejima doesn’t move and instead continues to just stare. “Saejima-san?”
Instead of taking the beer, Saejima puts his hands on Baba’s arms. His lopsided smile suggests he’s smiling despite trying not to. “Green looks good on ya.”
It takes a moment for Baba to figure out what green thing Saejima’s referring to. “The jacket?” Baba had felt cold earlier and put on the first jacket he could find laying around. Even though their apartment is now plenty warm, Baba had felt too comfortable to take it off. “It’s your jacket.”
“Yeah,” Saejima grins. The smile is obviously not about the color of the jacket but whose jacket Baba is wearing, but Baba doesn’t bother to call Saejima out. Instead Baba is thinking about what he could surprise Saejima with next, only for Saejima to surprise Baba by pulling him in for a tight hug, causing Baba to almost drop the beers on the floor. “Missed ya,” Saejima murmurs into Baba’s ear.
“It’s only been a week,” Baba says with a chuckle. He manages to maneuver enough to put the beers on the counter, freeing up his hands to return the hug. “Yeah, I missed you too.”
It doesn’t matter that the beers are warming up on the counter, or that the snacks on the table are left unopened, or that they are still standing in the kitchen. The past week had been fine but... Baba feels incredibly warm in Saejima’s tight embrace, both in body and soul, and there’s no other place he rather be right now.
